Anil Bheem, also known as The Vocalist, (May 14, 1974 - February 4, 2023) was a Trinidadianchutney musician, singer and radio personality.

Career

Bheem began his career in July 1993 employed by 103.1FM, a local radio station. He is notable for having been with the radio station for nearly 30 years at the time of his death, where he hosted a daily program.[1]

In the late 1990s he earned the title of 'Chutney Soca King' after a series of hits on the local airwaves.[2] Well known songs of his include Hanuman Chalisa, Bole Bole Hanuman, Janam Janam Ka Saath Hai, Saray Zamanay, Just Walk Into My Life, Dil Ka Rishta, Bolo Langani Hee, The Indian Anthem, Jab Koi Baat, Teri Ore and Cyah Go No Way.

Personal Life

He was married to Cheryl Bheem for over 15 years, and has two daughters, Prithivi and Neelum. His daughter Prithivi is also well-known as a member of his band.

Death

On the night of February 3 2023, Bheem performed at 2 concerts; one in San Fernando, and one in Chaguanas before returning to his Curepe home at around 3 a.m. on February 4, 2023. At around 4 a.m. he began complaining of severe chest pains. Emergency services were contacted but he could not be revived.[3]

At 6:20 a.m. on February 4, 2023, his employer, 103.1FM, confirmed his death via Facebook. His death was subsequently confirmed by his family members. His cause of death has not been confirmed, but is suspected to be a sudden and severe heart attack.
