Li Ka-shing, a billionaire and Chairman of Cheung Kong Holdings, is known as the richest person in Hong Kong and all of Eastern Asia. Early Life and Career

Li Ka-shing was born in Chaozhou, China in 1928. Due to the Japanese invasion, his family was forced to flee to Hong Kong. He started his career as a watch salesman in his uncle's store. With qualities such as diligence and hard work, Li became the store's manager at the age of nineteen. He was not afraid of work, often working sixteen-hour days. While working in the metal door sales industry, Li studied the production process during the nights. He opened his own plastic manufacturing plant in 1949. Ten years later, Li transitioned into the construction and real estate industry. Twenty-one years later, his interests expanded to electricity and cargo transportation.

Business Empire and Philanthropy

Li Ka-shing is currently focused on expanding his retail and telecommunications networks. The assets of his company, Cheung Kong Group, are valued at $100 billion. The company employs over 200,000 workers in 51 countries worldwide. During the Asian market crisis, Li not only withstood the storm but also increased his wealth. His empire is described in a Harvard textbook as being built through "hard and long work, driven only by the highest level of internal organization." He has always engaged in business activities that are leading in their respective industries and ensures that his actions remain within the boundaries of the law.

In 1980, Li established the Li Ka-shing Foundation, a charitable fund aimed at supporting educational and humanitarian projects.
