While we were talking, we imagined  her often immersed in the creative process, surrounded by bolts of fabric and sketches. Like an inter-dimensional portal. Known for her avant-garde brand, LIMI feu, which placed emphasis on ambiance, volume, and comfort over excessive embellishments, Limi’s unique approach to design spoke to a generation seeking authenticity and individuality. Asking her how she approaches the design process to create garments that evoke a strong connection between the wearer and the clothing itself, she said that she designs clothes that establish a strong connection between the wearer and the garment itself, she mused. “It’s about enabling individuals to authentically express themselves through what they wear.”

It was this philosophy that drove Limi’s vision for LIMI feu—a vision that transcended mere fashion and tapped into the deeper realm of personal connection and identity. Her dream? April 2024 marked a significant milestone in her career, the story behind the brand name LIMI feu, a collaborative creation between Limi and her renowned father, Yohji Yamamoto, was a testament to their shared passion for crafting clothing that celebrated timeless style, comfort, and individuality.

In the design process, material sourcing, and production methods, LIMI feu strive to incorporate sustainable practices by using high-quality materials and supporting ethical production processes. “All our pattern making processes are handmade, a testament to our dedication to craftsmanship and quality.”

Despite being a small team, Limi reiterated that staying true to their values and doing the work by hand was paramount to maintaining the brand’s ethos. Blending elements of romance with urban and street style, Limi Feu’s designs offer a unique fusion that speaks to a diverse range of tastes. The collection exuded a sense of lightness, with a manga-esque aesthetic infused with a dark gothic edge, striking a balance between romanticism and avant-garde elements. The palette of grey and total black garments with exaggerated proportions reflected the designer’s signature style, featuring oversized pieces that played with asymmetrical shapes in dresses, sweaters, and fantastical skirts and trousers. Bold triangles of black, grey, and purple added a dynamic dimension to the collection, leaving us yearning for more. A testament to a successful collection is its ability to captivate and leave a lasting impact, and Limi Feu’s Fall/Winter 2024-2025 offering certainly achieved that with its captivating blend of boldness and artistry.
